My first suggestion is to contact the lender and explain your situation. If they can lower your payment by modifying your loan and adding six months to your current contract and adding your two missed payments onto the end, that might give you some breathing room.

In most cases, lenders would rather do this than have the vehicle repossessed. It’s much less costly to them in the long run.

Your other choice, of course, is to visit a dealer and have your car appraised to see if it’s possible to sell it and close out the loan.
