Ford Fusion Hybrid Email Hoax

According to Ford Motor Company there is an email circulating around that proves the old adage that if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

Fusion Hybrid email

Here at Auto Credit Express, we see that, according to a recent press release from Ford, there is an email circulating around the netherworld more commonly known as the internet that purports to offer recipients the chance to purchase a new 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid for the very tempting price of $15,500 – which is nearly $12,000 less than the actual MSRP of the vehicle. And while the offer might seem tempting, there are two things that consumers must know in order to understand the retail auto industry:
1.    If it sounds too good to be true, it is (no “probably” about it).
2.    Nobody loses money on each car and makes up for it in volume (I mean, really).

So with that in mind, here is the official news release from Ford:

2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid base MSRP $27,270

2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid base MSRP $27,270

A 2010 FORD FUSION HYBRID FOR $15,500? SORRY, THIS IS ONE OFFER THAT IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE

DEARBORN, Mich., May 15, 2009 – According to an email that is circulating, Ford Motor Company is offering a special program to sell 500 2010 Fusion Hybrids for $15,500 each.

Unfortunately, the offer is not legitimate and the email is a hoax. Also, the sales manager listed in the email is not a company employee.

Ford recommends that people delete the email and any attachments.

But as long as we’re talking about the Ford Fusion Hybrid, we’ll take this opportunity to pass along some things that are true:

•    The all-new 2010 Fusion Hybrid is America’s most fuel efficient mid-size car with a certified 41 mpg rating in the city and 36 mpg on the highway.
•    This tops the Toyota Camry hybrid by 8 mpg in the city and 2 mpg on the highway.
•    The real MSRP for a 2010 Fusion Hybrid starts at $27,270.

And you can email that all you like.
