If you have bad credit and you’re thinking of applying for car loans with bad credit but, for some reason, you don’t have a current driver’s license, you should know ahead of time that this can be a major issue. A valid driver’s license

When you take delivery of a vehicle, you will need to present a valid driver’s license as proof of identification. We realize that at this point most buyers have already taken a test drive, but in some instances (usually because the car salesman is in a hurry to get you behind the wheel); a copy of your drivers license may not have been made beforehand. In any case, if any problems arise at this point, the bad credit auto loan delivery procedure can quickly get complicated.

So before that happens, here is what you need to know:

Once you present you license, the dealer’ representative (the salesman or business manager) will then make a copy of it and place it in the deal folder along with the rest of the required loan documents.

You need a valid driver’s license. Your license needs to list your current address (as stated on your credit application) and it needs to be issued from the state in which you claim to live. The license also needs to be current (that is, it cannot be expired). In a growing number of states, even if the license shows that it’s current, the dealer will also verify it with your state’s department of motor vehicles (DMV) to determine if it’s valid. If it isn’t (outstanding tickets, fines, suspensions, etc.), the deal is off.

When you take possession of your new vehicle, whether through conventional or second chance auto loan financing, make sure you bring a current, valid driver’s license with you; otherwise, you’ll be unable to take delivery of your new car.
