New Diversified Certified program could give bad credit buyers a wider choice of certified used cars at Chrysler dealers
New Chrysler Program Could Help Bad Credit Buyers
Checking things out

Credit-challenged buyers will soon be able to choose from a wider variety of certified used cars at Chrysler dealers that participate in bad credit auto sales.

At least the new program certainly sounds good and we should know because for the last decade at Auto Credit Express we've been helping bad credit applicants find dealers that can help them. Our website also goes on to explain cosigning approved auto loans and repossession as well as today's topic, Chrysler's new certified used car program.

Certified used cars

Most certified used car programs work like this: If a vehicle meets certain age and mileage requirements, it then must be inspected by the dealer. Following the inspection and the replacement of worn, broken or defective parts, dealers can then sell them with a manufacturer-backed extended warranty (really a service contract) that varies by make and model.

Using this warranty, dealers can sell them (and usually have to because of the added cost of the service contract) at a premium over non-certified used cars.

What is and is not covered varies widely according to the manufacturer, but up until now one thing was certain: in order buy a specific model certified used car, you had to visit the franchised new car dealer that sells them. Under the Chrysler Diversified Certified program, this is no longer the case.

Chrysler Diversified Certified

"Today is a new chapter for certified pre-owned vehicles," said Eric Swanson, Head of Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles at Chrysler Group LLC. "Just because we didn't build the vehicle, doesn't mean we won't back it with a Chrysler Group warranty. Of course, we always want our customers to visit our dealers and purchase a new or certified pre-owned Chrysler Group model, but now we have given them another option to consider."

Under Chrysler's program "All competitive-make pre-owned vehicles will be subjected to a thorough certification process and come with a 5-Year/60,000-Mile Maximum Care (full mechanical) Warranty from original in-service date, as well as Certified Pre-Owned program benefits such as towing, roadside assistance and more."

To qualify for the program, eligible vehicles will have to have less than 48,000 miles on the odometer and be a 2008 model or newer.

According to information supplied by Chrysler, the program will begin immediately at all Fiat studios, with Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram Truck dealers joining the program in 60 days.

As we see it

While the mileage limits of vehicles in the Diversified Certified program are fairly low, this may mark the beginning of a new era in certified used car programs, making for a wider selection of certified used cars for bad credit buyers.
