10 Most Affordable New Cars for September 2014

Car buyers with credit issues that get approved for a new car loan this month will want to to check out the ten most affordable new cars over the next three weeks

New Car Loan Approvals

New FICO Score Could Help Poor Credit Borrowers

While the majority of borrowers with bad credit choose a used car, in some cases (depending on their income, debt and credit history) they’ll be offered the option of financing an affordable new car.

Buying new comes with a number of advantages including a comprehensive manufacturer warranty and, in most instances, coverage under state new car lemon laws.

Here at Auto Credit Express we believe that if this choice presents itself, buying a subcompact or compact vehicle, or even leasing one if you have poor but manageable credit, makes the most sense. Not only are they more affordable, they can also save buyers money on gas and auto insurance costs. Because they are more affordable, they can often be financed for a shorter term – a move that will not only lower interest charges, but allow borrowers to re-finance or move into the next vehicle and car loan at a lower interest rate more quickly.

Most Affordable New Cars for September

For the month of September, we’ve once again found the most affordable new cars and eliminated vehicles such as the smart fortwo that are too small or impractical for most buyers. Only the least expensive trim level for each model is listed, although different body styles (sedan, hatchback) of the same model are listed separately. For comparison’s sake, only manual transmission versions are listed – the option for an automatic is typically an additional $1,000-$1,400.

The list of new vehicles isn’t much different than last August’s list of cheap cars, but the order based on rebates has changed the order you may want to shop in September. There is one more thing: this month will be the last for the 2014 models, as September is typically the last month you’ll find enough of the current model year on dealer lots, so here goes:

The Bottom Line

When credit-challenged buyers are given the option of financing a new car, we suggest picking a model that’s affordable, fuel efficient and inexpensive to insure. Borrowers who do this will find themselves in a much better position down the road once they’ve re-established their credit.
