J.D. Power has just released its 2015 U.S. Initial Quality Study that highlights a number of new cars that could be affordable for many credit-challenged car buyers.

New Cars and Bad Credit

In an increasing number of instances, credit-challenged borrowers may qualify for a new car. Finance a new vehicle comes with a number of advantages including a comprehensive manufacturer new car warranty. But despite the fact that, in most states, they're also covered by new car lemon laws, nobody wants to go through the hassle of bringing their ride in for repairs even before that new car smell wears off.

So, how can these buyers determine which affordable new cars will prove to be the most reliable? Glad you asked.

J.D. Power 2015 U.S. Initial Quality Study

It's called the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study (IQS) and, since 1986, it's measured the quality of new vehicles. The latest study, based on 86,000 surveys covering 2015 model year personal use vehicles registered from November 2014 to February 2015, like the previous 28, examines the problems owners experienced during the first 90 days of ownership.

One of the surprises contained in the 2015 study was the finding that the Korean brands Hyundai and Kia, which produce some of the most affordable vehicles, now "lead the industry in initial quality by the widest margin ever" – definitely good news for bad credit car buyers.

With that in mind, we took the latest list of top-scoring vehicles from the J.D. Power 2015 U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS) and took a close look at the three most-affordable categories – City Car, Small Car and Compact Car – and came up with seven high-quality vehicles for buyers with poor credit.

So here goes:
